Market Chatter: Alibaba in Talks to Buy Hong Kong Office for $900 Million

07:29 AM EDT, 09/30/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Alibaba Group Holding ( BABA ) is in talks to acquire the top 13 floors of the One Causeway Bay building in Hong Kong from Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group for about 7 billion Hong Kong dollars ($900 million), the Hong Kong Economic Times reported Tuesday, citing unnamed market sources.

Alibaba's ( BABA ) current office lease in Hong Kong expires in 2028 and the company could be looking for a new space to use as its headquarters in the area for the long term, according to the report.

Alibaba ( BABA ) and Mandarin Oriental did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comments.
