07:51 AM EDT, 06/02/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet (GOOGL) and Amazon ( AMZN ) backed Artificial intelligence developer Anthropic has reached $3 billion in annualized revenue, tripling since December 2024, Reuters reported Thursday, citing two sources.

The growth, driven mainly by selling AI models to other businesses, reflects the rising demand for generative AI in the corporate world, one of the sources told Reuters.

The report said the company passed $2 billion mark around late March and hit $3 billion by the end of May. It added that the figure includes some consumer revenue via subscriptions to its Claude chatbot.

The company's rival OpenAI is expected to end 2025 with over $12 billion in total revenue, up from $3.7 billion last year, Reuters said, citing three people familiar with the matter.

Anthropic did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
