06:21 AM EDT, 05/06/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOGL, GOOG) Google ( GOOG ) is facing a demand from the US Department of Justice to divest its ad technology business, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing a court filing.

The DOJ said in a court filing late Monday that the proposed remedies are necessary to end Google's ( GOOG ) monopolies and restore competition in the ad-exchange and publisher ad-server markets, Reuters reported.

The regulator has proposed selling Google's ( GOOG ) AdX advertising marketplace and ad server DFP after a federal court ruled last month that the company held an illegal monopoly in online search, with the trial scheduled for September, the report said.

Google ( GOOG ) and the Justice Department did not immediately respond to MTNewswires' requests for comment.
