02:32 PM EDT, 09/25/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) is likely to be hit with a second fine in the coming months under the European Union's Digital Markets Act, Reuters reported Thursday, citing three people with direct knowledge of the matter.
The fine is related to charges that Google ( GOOG ) favored its search engines such as Google Shopping, Google Flights and Google Hotels over rivals, the report said.
The EU Commission is in no hurry to wrap up the case in light of recent criticism from the Trump administration of the EU's tech rules and subsequent penalties brought on American tech companies, the people said.
Google ( GOOG ) was recently hit with a 2.95 billion euro ($3.45 billion) fine from the EU for favoring its online display technology services and its ad exchange, Reuters said.
Google ( GOOG ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
