08:33 AM EDT, 07/11/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) will give a significant discount on cloud computing services for the US government, the Financial Times reported Friday, citing a senior official at the General Services Administration, which is renegotiating the contracts.
The cloud contract with Google ( GOOG ) will most likely be similar to an Oracle deal completed last week, which provided a 75% discount on some software contracts and "substantial discounts on cloud computing contracts, the report quoted the official as saying. A deal is expected to be finalized in weeks, the official added.
Google ( GOOG ) agreed to grant the US government a 71% "temporary price reduction" on some Workspace contracts in April until the end of September, the report said.
Alphabet and the General Services Administration did not immediately reply to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
