02:28 PM EDT, 08/20/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet (GOOG) robotaxi Waymo has doubled its paid rides to 100,000 per week as it expanded its coverage, Reuters reported Tuesday.

Waymo has been offering its service to new areas as Alphabet ramps up its investments in the autonomous ride-hailing firm, with plans to invest up to $5 billion over multiple years.

The firm extended its services to the San Francisco Peninsula and to certain parts of Los Angeles, the report said.

Waymo did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
