12:54 PM EST, 01/29/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Waymo unit is sending autonomous vehicles for test operations in 10 new cities in 2025, The Verge reported Wednesday, citing the company.

The vehicles will first be sent to Las Vegas and San Diego and will be manually driven, according to the report.

"So what we're looking for is places that are going to challenge our system and look very, very different," Nick Rose, product manager for Waymo's expansion efforts, told The Verge.

Neither Alphabet nor Waymo immediately responded to MT Newswires' requests for comment.

Among shares of ride hailing companies, Uber ( UBER ) was down 2.4% and Lyft ( LYFT ) was 4.3% lower in Wednesday midday trading.
