Market Chatter: Alphabet's YouTube to Offer Lower-Priced Service

02:16 PM EST, 02/20/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) YouTube ( GOOG ) intends to offer a lower-priced "premium lite" service, providing ad-free viewing for podcasts and how-to clips, Bloomberg reported Thursday.

The new tier will be available soon in the US, Australia, Germany and Thailand, the report said, citing a person familiar with the plan.

The new service "is part of our commitment to provide our users with more choice and flexibility," a YouTube ( GOOG ) spokesperson said in a statement, according to Bloomberg.

YouTube ( GOOG ) didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
