08:24 AM EST, 11/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon.com ( AMZN ) is developing smart eyeglasses that will help its delivery drivers navigate the last 100 yards to a customer's doorstep, reducing the time and cost it takes to make deliveries, Reuters reported Monday, citing five people familiar with the project.
The glasses, which build on Amazon.com's ( AMZN ) Echo Frames, are intended to provide drivers with turn-by-turn directions and allow them to carry more packages by eliminating the need for handheld devices, Reuters reported, citing the sources.
The sources also said it could take years to develop the technology and the project could be scrapped if it's not feasible, according to the report.
Amazon ( AMZN ) did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
