Market Chatter: Amazon Expanding Fast Deliveries Into US Rural Areas
Jul 30, 2024 9:07 AM

11:36 AM EDT, 07/30/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon.com ( AMZN ) is expanding fast delivery of its products into rural areas in the US as it tries to rely less on the post office in those areas, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday.

The company is boosting its one- to two-day delivery services throughout the US with the aim of increasing sales in rural regions, the report said.

Under the project, Amazon ( AMZN ) clients in small towns will get the company's packages faster, and fewer of the deliveries will be done by the US Postal Service, which is now widely used for the retail giant's deliveries in rural areas, the report said.

An Amazon ( AMZN ) spokeswoman told the WSJ that expanding the project "will help cut delivery times for customers in smaller towns and more isolated parts of the country."

Amazon ( AMZN ) didn't immediately respond to a request for comment by MT Newswires.
