08:09 AM EDT, 07/21/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon ( AMZN ) has increased its prices on low-cost products in the five months since the Trump administration announced tariffs, the Wall Street Journal reported Sunday, citing its own analysis of 1,200 item prices provided by Traject Data.
Meanwhile, the analysis showed that prices for the same items at its competitor Walmart ( WMT ) dropped almost 2%, the report said.
Manufacturers of some of the products that became more expensive on Amazon ( AMZN ) said they haven't hiked the prices they charge retailers, the report added.
Amazon ( AMZN ) said the products tracked in the analysis were not representative of its prices overall, the Journal reported. "Our commitment to offering low prices -- not relative percentage changes -- is what delivers the most value to our customers," the Journal quoted Amazon ( AMZN ) as saying in a statement.
Amazon ( AMZN ) and Walmart ( WMT ) did not immediately reply to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
