Market Chatter: Amazon Joins Microsoft in Legislation to Curb Nvidia's Exports to China
Nov 14, 2025 4:20 AM

07:12 AM EST, 11/14/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon.com ( AMZN ) is joining Microsoft ( MSFT ) in supporting legislation to further mitigate Nvidia's ( NVDA ) ability to export to China, The Wall Street Journal reported late Thursday, citing unnamed congressional aides and sources familiar with the matter.

Microsoft ( MSFT ) is publicly supporting the Gain AI Act legislation, while officials at Amazon's ( AMZN ) cloud unit have informed Senate members they also support the legislation, the report said, citing the sources.

Chip companies would have to fulfill US demand before exporting products to China and other regions subject to arms embargoes, according to the WSJ. The legislation would provide tech firms including Microsoft ( MSFT ) and Amazon ( AMZN ) preferential access to chips at their data centers globally.

Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google and Meta Platforms (META) have taken no stance yet and neither has President Trump, the people told the news outlet.

Artificial intelligence model developer Anthropic is also supporting Amazon ( AMZN ) and Microsoft ( MSFT ) in this stance, the WSJ said, citing the people.

An Nvidia ( NVDA ) spokesperson told MT Newswires in an email Friday that the company does not "sell restricted products to adversaries at the expense" of US companies and sales to authorized clients globally do not "deprive" American customers of anything.

"The pundits feeding fake news to Congress about chip supply would overturn President Trump's AI Action Plan and surrender America's chance to lead in AI and computing worldwide," the spokesperson said.

Amazon ( AMZN ) and Microsoft ( MSFT ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.

Amazon's ( AMZN ) stock was down 1.4% in recent Friday premarket activity, Microsft edged 0.7% lower, while Nvidia's ( NVDA ) stock fell 2.5%.
