02:35 PM EDT, 08/07/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon.com ( AMZN ) is working to onboard more Chinese sellers on its platform as it takes on the likes of low-cost online platforms Shein and Temu, Nikkei reported Wednesday.
Amazon ( AMZN ) expressed its support for online sellers' efforts to enter the global market during an event held by the e-commerce giant in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, at the end of July, according to the report.
The company opened new offices in the inland cities of Wuhan, Hubei province, and Zhengzhou, Henan province, in 2024 to attract small and medium-sized sellers that could utilize its logistics network to export overseas, Nikkei reported.
The company is also holding live seminars daily through its official account on the social networking app WeChat to onboard potential sellers, the report said.
Amazon ( AMZN ) did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
