Market Chatter: Amazon Sensitive Employee Information Safe in Data Leak at Vendor

03:27 PM EST, 11/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon.com ( AMZN ) confirmed that employee data was stolen in a security breach at a third-party property management vendor, but did not include sensitive information, TechCrunch reported Monday.

Amazon ( AMZN ) and its cloud division Amazon Web Services were secure and did not experience any security breach, Adam Montgomery, Amazon ( AMZN ) spokesperson, told TechCrunch. Only employee work information, including work emails, desk phone numbers, and building locations, was stolen at the vendor.

The does not have access to sensitive data such as Social Security numbers or financial details, Montgomery told the online publication.

Amazon ( AMZN ) did not disclose the number of employees impacted, but said the vendor has since addressed the security vulnerability, the report said.

Amazon ( AMZN ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.

Amazon ( AMZN ) shares fell nearly 1% in recent trading.
