02:31 PM EDT, 09/12/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon ( AMZN ) is testing General Motors' ( GM ) BrightDrop electric van as the e-commerce giant weighs options to lower carbon emissions from its delivery operations, Bloomberg reported Friday.
An Amazon ( AMZN ) spokesperson told Bloomberg the company has committed to 100,000 electric delivery vehicles on the road by 2030. The company is currently assessing multiple vehicle options, including a "small number" of Chevrolet BrightDrops, Bloomberg said.
In order to improve its sustainability efforts, Amazon ( AMZN ) has relied heavily on Rivian's (RIVN) electric vans, the report said. However, much of its delivery fleet consists of petrol-run vehicles such as Ford's (F) Transit model and ProMaster vans made by Stellantis' ( STLA ) Ram brand, according to Bloomberg.
The company has tested more than 15 electric vehicle models and has over 31,000 on the ground currently, including around 24,000 Rivian vans, the report said.
Amazon ( AMZN ) and GM did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
