03:09 PM EST, 12/03/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon.com ( AMZN ) is looking to partner with news publishers to license their content for the launch of the new version of its Alexa voice assistant in late 2025, Axios reported Tuesday.
The e-commerce giant is planning to start early tests with several publishers, a person familiar with its plans told Axios.
Amazon ( AMZN ) is reportedly trying new ways for Alexa to answer news questions using text and photos but is not planning to add artificial intelligence video features to the updated version for the time being, Axios reported.
Publishers will be paid through licensing deals and their content will be credited when Alexa answers news questions, Axios reported.
Amazon ( AMZN ) did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
