09:00 AM EDT, 04/09/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon ( AMZN ) is seeking to challenge Poland's leading online marketplace Allegro, using its video streaming platform as a way to attract customers, Reuters reported, citing company officials.
Amazon ( AMZN ) plans to add more original Polish-language shows to the five it has launched on its Prime Video service since 2023, according to the report. Amazon Prime costs 49 zlotys ($12.51) per year in Poland, Reuters reported.
In February, Allegro had 18.2 million users in Poland, compared with almost 5.9 million for Amazon ( AMZN ), according to the report.
Allegro currently operates in six countries and plans to launch the brand in Croatia, Hungary and Slovenia this year, according to the report.
