Market Chatter: Amazon Web Services, Other Tech Giants, Seeking to Secure Power from Nuclear Plants
Jul 1, 2024 5:20 AM

07:48 AM EDT, 07/01/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon's ( AMZN ) Amazon Web Services is among tech companies attempting to secure deals to power AI data centers from US nuclear reactors, The Wall Street Journal reported Monday.

The owners of roughly a third of US nuclear reactors are in talks with tech companies to provide electricity, the Journal reported.

Amazon Web Services is in talks with Constellation Energy (CEG), the largest owner of US nuclear plants, the Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

The Journal cited concerns that such deals could remove power from grids, raising consumer prices and causing potential disruptions.
