Market Chatter: Amazon.com Sued Over Seafood Sustainability Claims

05:59 PM EDT, 07/31/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon.com ( AMZN ) was sued by consumers who accused the retailer of misleading shoppers with sustainability claims on seafood sold through its platform, Reuters reported Friday.

The lawsuit alleges labels such as "dolphin safe," "responsibly sourced," "sustainable," "wild caught" and "MSC Certified Sustainable Seafood" falsely suggested the products caused minimal environmental harm, the report said.

The complaint targets dozens of seafood products under brands including Bumble Bee, Chicken of the Sea, StarKist and Amazon's ( AMZN ) 365 by Whole Foods Market, Reuters reported.

Amazon's ( AMZN ) lawyers did not immediately respond to Reuters's requests for comment.
