07:10 AM EDT, 07/10/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon's ( AMZN ) cloud-computing unit, Amazon Web Services, or AWS, is launching its fourth-generation Graviton processor, the Graviton4 chip, Yahoo Finance reported Wednesday, citing Rahul Kulkarni, the company's director of product management for Compute and AI.
The new chip's capabilities include three times the compute power and memory of its predecessor, 75% more memory bandwidth, and 30% higher performance, the report said.
The chip provides competitive pricing and performance in the AI-driven chips market, complementing AWS' Inferentia and Trainium chips despite not being an AI-specific chip, the report said.
AWS has not disclosed specific pricing details for the Graviton4, but the report states that the processors are rented at $0.02845 per second of compute power.
