Market Chatter: Amazon's Return to Office Policy Aims to Preserve Company Culture
Oct 7, 2024 6:23 AM

08:52 AM EDT, 10/07/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon.com's ( AMZN ) decision to bring corporate employees back to the office five days a week starting in January stems from leadership concerns that recent hires are not being taught the company culture, Bloomberg reported Monday, citing three people familiar with the issue.

Amazon ( AMZN ) currently allows many of its over 350,000 employees to work from home two days a week, the report said. Chief Executive Officer Andy Jassy's memo last month announcing the return-to-office policy followed internal discussions about how remote work impacts new recruits, sources reportedly told Bloomberg.

The move has sparked a renewed debate about the value of in-person work, the report said. While the company insists the change is not intended to reduce headcount, internal reactions have been tense, with some employees already resigning, it added.

Amazon ( AMZN ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
