May 25, 2025 9:02 PM

12:14 PM EDT, 04/29/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) has started making iPhones at a new Tata Electronics plant in Hosur, India, as it diversifies its manufacturing base beyond China amid the tariff war, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing sources.

Another plant operated by Foxconn in Bengaluru is expected to start operations with one assembly line in a few days, Reuters added, citing four sources.

The plant in Bengaluru can make roughly 300 to 500 iPhones per hour and is expected to create 50,000 jobs at full capacity. Construction of the plant is expected to be completed by December 2027, the sources told the news outlet.

Apple ( AAPL ) didn't immediately respond to a comment request from MT Newswires.
