02:57 PM EDT, 03/14/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) acquired Canadian artificial-intelligence startup DarwinAI earlier this year, Bloomberg reported Thursday, citing people with knowledge of the matter.

Dozens of DarwinAI's employees have joined the iPhone maker's AI division, the people said, according to the report.

Apple ( AAPL ) said it "buys smaller technology companies from time to time" in response to questions about the transaction, Bloomberg reported.

Apple ( AAPL ) did not immediately respond to a request for comment by MT Newswires.
