09:30 AM EDT, 06/02/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) is challenging an order from the EU's antitrust regulator on how it needs to make its iOS operating system more compatible with other companies' software and hardware products under the bloc's Digital Markets Act, The Wall Street Journal reported Monday.
Apple ( AAPL ) filed an appeal against the decision to the EU's General Court on May 30, the report said, adding companies may face fines of up to 10% of their global annual turnover if the bloc believes they are breaching Digital Markets Act rules.
"We design our technology to work seamlessly together, so it can deliver the unique experience our users love and expect from our products. The EU's interoperability requirements threaten that foundation, while creating a process that is unreasonable, costly, and stifles innovation," an Apple ( AAPL ) spokesperson told the WSJ.
Apple ( AAPL ) didn't immediately respond to a request for comment by MT Newswires.
