Market Chatter: Apple COO Jeff Williams Likely to Become CEO if Tim Cook Leaves Soon; John Ternus Likely Candidate After 3 Years
May 9, 2024 12:13 PM

02:52 PM EDT, 05/09/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Apple's ( AAPL ) Chief Operating Officer Jeff Williams will likely become CEO of the company if Chief Executive Tim Cook were to step down soon, Bloomberg reported late Wednesday, citing several people familiar with the company's inner workings.

Williams is not likely to become the new long-term CEO, company insiders reportedly said.

If Cook stays at Apple ( AAPL ) for at least another three years, Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering John Ternus is the most likely candidate to replace him, the report added, citing people within the company.

Apple ( AAPL ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
