Market Chatter: Apple Looks to Launch Smart Glasses by 2026-end; Pauses Smartwatch With Camera Plans
May 26, 2025 12:53 PM

03:49 PM EDT, 05/22/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) is planning to launch its smart glasses, a rival to Meta Platforms' ( META ) Ray-Bans, by the end of 2026, Bloomberg reported Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The technology company has paused the development of a smartwatch, which was envisioned to have a built-in camera for analyzing its surroundings, the news report quoted the sources saying.

The sources told Bloomberg that the company intends to commence production of the prototypes of the glasses, which are expected to have cameras, microphones and speakers, at the end of 2025 with offshore suppliers.

The glasses, under the umbrella descriptor N401, would be able to handle phone calls, music playback and live translations, among other tasks, the report adds.

Apple ( AAPL ) didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
