Market Chatter: Apple, Microsoft's OpenAI, Request US Judge to Dismiss Lawsuit Filed by Elon Musk's xAI
Mar 10, 2026 8:23 PM

07:08 AM EDT, 10/01/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) and Microsoft's ( MSFT ) OpenAI asked a US federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit filed in August by Elon Musk's xAI for allegedly trying to block competition in the field of artificial intelligence, Reuters reported Wednesday.

Musk's company is seeking billions of dollars in damages, accusing Apple ( AAPL ) of failing to prominently feature the X app and Grok apps in the App Store due to an "exclusive" deal with OpenAI, the report said.

Meanwhile Apple's ( AAPL ) lawyers said in a court filing on Tuesday that the agreement between Apple ( AAPL ) and OpenAI is not exclusive, and Apple ( AAPL ) plans to partner with other generative AI chatbots, Reuters reported.

Apple ( AAPL ), OpenAI and xAI did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment on the matter.
