07:49 AM EST, 01/07/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) is looking to cover more countries to expand its News app and build local news content in the UK, the Financial Times reported Tuesday, citing people familiar with the plans.

Apple News, which comes with the new iPhone, currently reaches about 125 million users monthly in the US, Canada, UK, and Australia, the report said.

The move aims to solidify Apple's ( AAPL ) growing role as a revenue generator for publishers, with the company focusing on expanding its user base and improving ad effectiveness, according to the Financial Times.
