Market Chatter: Apple, SpaceX Clash Over Satellite Mobile Phone Connectivity
Mar 31, 2025 4:21 AM

06:47 AM EDT, 03/31/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) and Elon Musk's SpaceX are clashing over the rights to use satellite technology to eliminate mobile phone network dead spots, The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday.

Apple ( AAPL ) last year invested $1 billion in Globalstar's satellite-based technology to keep users connected in places where wireless signals aren't available even as SpaceX's Starlink has deployed a network of more than 550 satellites to provide connectivity.

Musk is reportedly pushing federal regulators to stop Apple's ( AAPL ) advances, which depend on gaining limited broadband spectrum rights.

Apple ( AAPL ) and SpaceX did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
