03:35 PM EDT, 08/22/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) filed a lawsuit against a former employee for allegedly disclosing trade secrets to rival smartphone maker Oppo, Bloomberg reported Friday, citing the complaint.
According to a complaint filed Thursday in federal court in San Jose, California, Apple ( AAPL ) accused the Chinese company of recruiting Chen Shi, a former sensor systems architect on the Apple Watch team, the report said.
Shi allegedly retrieved confidential documents on Apple's ( AAPL ) health-sensing technologies for Oppo to create a competing wearable device before leaving the US company in June, the report said.
Shi had not informed Apple ( AAPL ) of his employment at Oppo before departing, the report said.
Shi couldn't immediately be reached for comment via LinkedIn, while Oppo, known as Guangdong Oppo Mobile Telecommunications, and Apple ( AAPL ) didn't respond to requests for comment. Bloomberg reported.
