Market Chatter: Apple Suppliers May Rely on China Imports After India Plant Fire
Oct 2, 2024 10:23 PM

11:48 AM EDT, 10/01/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Apple's ( AAPL ) suppliers may have to import parts from China or elsewhere after a fire caused extensive damage at Tata Group's iPhone component plant in India over the weekend, Reuters reported Tuesday.

Production at Tata's Hosur plant, the only Indian supplier of iPhone back panels and some other parts for Foxconn and its own iPhone assembly at another facility, has been halted indefinitely following the incident, according to the report.

Apple ( AAPL ) is struggling to fulfill as much as 15% of the anticipated demand for iPhone 14 and 15 in India during the country's festive season, the report said, citing Hong Kong-based Counterpoint Research.

Apple ( AAPL ) and Tata did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
