09:06 AM EDT, 08/20/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) will make its most expensive iPhone models in India for the first time this year, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Apple ( AAPL ) supplier Foxconn Technology plans to begin assembling the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max at its factory in Tamil Nadu state this fall and has already begun training workers, the report said.

Apple ( AAPL ), which manufactures the majority of its iPhones in China, is attempting to diversify its supply chain amid tensions between Beijing and Washington, the report said.

Apple ( AAPL ) plans to export most of the India-made Pro and Pro Max devices to Europe, the Middle East, and the US, the report said.

Apple ( AAPL ) did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
