Market Chatter: Apple to Face Lawsuit Over AirTags' Alleged Use in Stalking Cases
Mar 18, 2024 4:56 AM

07:26 AM EDT, 03/18/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) is set to face a lawsuit over product liability after a US District Court judge in San Francisco denied the company's bid to dismiss a class action suit over the use of its AirTag devices in certain cases of stalking, Bloomberg News reported Saturday, citing the court decision.

The report said US District Judge Vince Chhabria decided that three of the class action's plaintiffs made enough claims against the company for negligence and product liability, but other claims in the suit were dismissed. Bloomberg said about 36 plaintiffs filed the suit against Apple ( AAPL ).

"The problems with the AirTag's safety features were substantial, and that those safety defects caused their injuries," said the judge regarding the three plantiffs' claims.

Apple ( AAPL ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
