11:58 AM EDT, 10/13/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) will open preorders for its new iPhone Air in China on Oct. 17, after regulators approved eSIM services for the country's major telecom operators, Reuters reported Monday.
Priced from 7,999 yuan ($1,122), the iPhone Air will be the only model in China to support eSIM, a digital SIM embedded in the device.
China Mobile, China Telecom, and China Unicom have been cleared to begin trial eSIM services, according to the report.
Apple ( AAPL ) CEO Tim Cook, currently in Shanghai, announced the preorder date on on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, according to the report.
