09:39 AM EDT, 09/19/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) has used artificial intelligence in its Apple Watch Series 11 models to detect high blood pressure and notify users, Reuters reported Friday, citing Sumbul Ahmad Desai, the tech giant's vice president of health.
The notification feature, which also integrates with Apple Watch Series 9 and above, applies AI models to current sensor data, the report said.
Apple ( AAPL ) used AI to filter through the data from 100,000 people enrolled in a heart and movement study it originally rolled out in 2019 to explore whether it could find features in the data from the watch's heart-related sensor to match up with traditional blood pressure figures, Desai told Reuters.
The feature only lets users know that they may have high blood pressure and encourages them to use a blood pressure measuring device and see a doctor, the report said.
Apple ( AAPL ) intends to launch this feature in over 150 countries, according to the news outlet.
Apple ( AAPL ) shares were up 1.7% in recent trading.
