Market Chatter: Apple's iPhone Sales in China Soar 52% in April
May 28, 2024 3:54 AM

06:33 AM EDT, 05/28/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Apple's ( AAPL ) smartphone shipments in China rose 52% in April compared with a year earlier, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing data from a research firm affiliated with the Chinese government.

Shipments of foreign-branded phones in China increased last month to 3.495 million units from 2.301 million a year earlier, the report said.

Although the data didn't explicitly mention Apple ( AAPL ), the US technology giant is the dominant foreign phone maker in China's smartphone-dominated market, implying that the increase in foreign-branded shipments can be linked to Apple's ( AAPL ) performance, Reuters reported.

Apple's ( AAPL ) sales could climb further this month as a result of discounts of up to 2,300 yuan ($318) on select iPhone models on its Tmall site, the report said.
