07:00 AM EDT, 07/03/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Apple's ( AAPL ) App Store chief Phil Schiller will assume an observer role on OpenAI's board later this year, Bloomberg News reported Tuesday, citing sources with knowledge of the details.

This is reportedly part of an agreement between Apple ( AAPL ) and OpenAI that includes the integration of ChatGPT into iPhones, iPads, and Macs.

Schiller, who previously served as Apple's ( AAPL ) marketing head, will not serve as a full-fledged director on OpenAI's board but will be permitted to attend board meetings without the ability to exercise additional director powers, according to the report.

Certain OpenAI board meetings may cover future artificial intelligence projects between Microsoft ( MSFT ) and OpenAI, the report added.

Apple ( AAPL ) did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
