07:08 AM EST, 11/25/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Apple's ( AAPL ) request to pause an antitrust report that found the tech giant violated competition laws in India was denied by the country's antitrust regulator, Reuters reported Sunday, citing an internal order.
The Competition Commission of India ordered a recall of investigative reports in August after Apple ( AAPL ) alleged the regulator disclosed commercial secrets to competitors in a 2021 case, prompting the CCI to ask parties to return the reports and destroy any copies, the report added.
The regulator then issued new reports, Reuters said, adding that Apple ( AAPL ) alleged this month that Together We Fight Society, the main complainant in the antitrust probe, did not comply with the orders to provide assurance that it destroyed the old investigation reports.
Apple ( AAPL ) asked the Indian regulator to investigate Together We Fight Society and put a hold on the revised report, Reuters said, citing the order.
"Apple's ( AAPL ) request to hold the investigation report in abeyance was deemed untenable," the news outlet quoted the Competition Commission of India as saying in a statement.
Neither Apple ( AAPL ) nor the CCI immediately responded to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
