Market Chatter: AppLovin Facing SEC Investigation Over Data-Collection Practices
Oct 6, 2025 2:11 PM

04:50 PM EDT, 10/06/2025 (MT Newswires) -- AppLovin ( APP ) is facing an investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission for data-collection practices, Bloomberg reported Monday, citing people with knowledge of the matter.

The SEC probe is in response to a whistleblower complaint filed earlier this year and short-seller reports alleging that AppLovin ( APP ) breached platform partners' service agreements to push more targeted advertising to consumers, sources told Bloomberg.

SEC enforcement officials overseeing cyber and emerging technologies are handling the matter, the people told the media outlet.

"We do not comment on the existence or non-existence of any potential regulatory matters. That said, as a global public company, we regularly engage with regulators, and if we get inquiries, we address them in the ordinary course. Material developments, if any, would be disclosed through the appropriate public channels," an AppLovin ( APP ) spokesperson told MT Newswires in an emailed response.

AppLovin ( APP ) shares fell over 5% during after-hours activity.
