08:08 AM EDT, 10/25/2024 (MT Newswires) -- AstraZeneca's ( AZN ) former senior executive is being investigated by Chinese authorities, Bloomberg reported on Friday, citing local media outlets.

The report said Eva Yin, currently the Chief Commercial Officer for Beigene, was recently detained.

It added that Yin had worked at AstraZeneca ( AZN ) for over 15 years, including serving as the general manager of its oncology division in China.

The investigation may be linked to a past state medical insurance fraud case involving AstraZeneca ( AZN ), according to Bloomberg.

Sources said that several individuals connected to the oncology division have been questioned regarding potential violations of data privacy laws and the importation of unapproved drugs.

AstraZeneca ( AZN ) didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
