04:31 AM EST, 11/24/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Barrick Mining ( B ) has reached a verbal agreement in principle with Mali's government to resolve their dispute over the Loulo-Gounkoto gold mining complex, Reuters reported Friday, citing sources familiar with the situation.
The two parties, which have been in dispute since 2023 over a new law that raises taxes and lifts the government's share of gold mines, met Friday for negotiations, the news agency reported.
The scope of the talks include a potential 10-year renewal of the company's mining license, the release of four arrested employees, the return of seized gold, and the dropping of arbitration proceedings initiated by Barrick, one of the unnamed sources told Reuters.
Barrick and Mali's mine ministry didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
