02:39 PM EST, 11/17/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon.com ( AMZN ) founder (AMZN) Jeff Bezos launched an artificial intelligence start-up that he will help lead as co-chief executive officer, the New York Times reported Monday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The company, called Project Prometheus, is focusing on applying AI for the engineering and manufacturing of computers, spacecraft and automobiles, and it has $6.2 in funding, partly from Bezos, the report said.
Bezos is currently the executive chair of Amazon ( AMZN ), having served as CEO from its founding in 1994 until July 2021. The co-founder and co-CEO of Project Prometheus is Vik Bajaj, a physicist, chemist and biotech entrepreneur, the report said.
Project Prometheus already has hired almost 100 people, the report said.
Amazon ( AMZN ) did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
