02:41 PM EDT, 05/28/2025 (MT Newswires) -- BlackRock ( BLK ) is set to invest in the latest bond issue of messaging app Telegram, which may raise at least $1.5 billion, the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday, citing sources familiar with the matter.
Other investors include Abu Dhabi's state-owned investment firm Mubadala and hedge fund Citadel, the report said.
Telegram is set to price the five-year bond at a 9% yield and plans to use the proceeds to buy back debt issued in 2021, the report said.
Investors in the new bond will have the option to convert their debt into shares at a discount if Telegram goes public, the report said.
