10:35 AM EDT, 03/15/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Boeing ( BA ) has advised airlines to inspect the cockpit seats on 787 Dreamliner jets following an incident on a Sydney to Auckland Latam Airlines flight this week, The Wall Street Journal reported.
A motorized feature pushed the pilot into the controls and pushed down the nose of the plane after a flight attendant hit a switch on the pilot's seat while serving a meal, the report said, citing US industry officials.
Boeing ( BA ) said operators of 787 jets should check the cockpit seats for loose covers on the switches and instructed them how to switch off power to the seat motor if necessary, the report said, citing a late Thursday memo from the company.
The report said about 50 passengers on the Sydney to Auckland flight needed medical attention.
Neither Boeing ( BA ) nor Latam Airlines immediately responded to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
