06:56 AM EDT, 10/07/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Boeing ( BA ) has been told to share more information from India's air safety regulator - Directorate General of Civil Aviation, after an emergency power system unexpectedly activated on an Air India 787 Dreamliner on Saturday, Reuters reported Tuesday, quoting Indian government sources.
The crew detected the deployment of the emergency power system, known as the Ram Air Turbine, during the final approach, but managed to land safely, the report said.
The aircraft was flying from the northern Indian city of Amritsar to Birmingham in the UK, and after a brief grounding, all electrical and hydraulic parameters were found to be normal, after it was briefly grounded, Reuters reported.
The incident occurred at a height of 500 feet, the report said, quoting Federation of Indian Pilots.
The pilots' body has also requested that the air safety regulator thoroughly check and investigate the electrical systems of dozens of Dreamliners operating within India, the report said, citing an email from the Union to aviation ministry officials.
Boeing ( BA ) and Air India didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
