07:57 AM EDT, 10/07/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Boeing ( BA ) delivery delays are constraining growth at Ethiopian Airlines, which has more than 100 jets on order, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing an interview with the African airline's chief executive officer, Mesfin Tasew.
The shortfall may persist for about two more years before wide-bodies from Boeing ( BA ) arrive "in large numbers," the report quoted him as saying.
Ethiopian has at least eight 777X on order, with first commercial service for the model now targeted for early 2027 instead of next year, the report said.
Wide-body deliveries are expected between now and 2030, while the carrier weighs additional orders, options, and purchase rights with both manufacturers, the report cited Tasew as saying.
Narrow-body deliveries remain on track, and Ethiopian continues to project passenger growth of up to 15% this year, the report said.
Boeing ( BA ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
