Market Chatter: Boeing Faces Claims About Poor Repair Work on 787 Dreamliner
Jun 27, 2024 3:56 AM

06:36 AM EDT, 06/27/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Boeing ( BA ) is facing claims from a subcontractor mechanic who worked on its 787 Dreamliner that he was fired after raising concerns about repair work at a Boeing ( BA ) factory near Seattle, multiple media outlets reported late Wednesday.

Richard Cuevas, who worked as a mechanic for Strom, a contractor for Boeing ( BA ) manufacturing partner Spirit AeroSystems, claims to have seen "substandard manufacturing and maintenance processes" on several Boeing 787 Dreamliners, including improper drilling and sealant application on pressurization parts, these reports said.

Cuevas filed a complaint in October about these issues and was subsequently fired a few months later, and Boeing ( BA ) said it had investigated Cuevas' concerns and found no safety issues, these reports added.
