Market Chatter: Boeing Faces 'Long Road' to Address Safety Issues, FAA Administrator Says
May 23, 2024 5:52 AM

08:16 AM EDT, 05/23/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Boeing ( BA ) faces a "long road" to ensuring they are making safe airplanes, Federal Aviation Administration Administrator Michael Whitaker told ABC News in an interview Thursday.

In February, the FAA gave Boeing ( BA ) 90 days to develop a plan to address "systemic quality-control issues." That plan is due next week, according to ABC News.

"We've been working closely with them the last 90 days on what that plan's going to look like," Whitaker said. "It's to bring the quality back where it needs to be at their factories. It's to bring the safety system where it needs to be and brings the culture where it needs to be so that employees can speak up when they see something that's concerning."
