07:47 AM EDT, 10/09/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Boeing ( BA ) could lose Turkish Airlines' recent order for 150 737 Max jets to rival Airbus' A320neos if the jet manufacturer's talks with its engine supplier fail to make progress, Reuters reported Thursday, citing Turkish airlines Chairman Ahmet Bolat said.
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan and US President Donald Trump announced the Boeing ( BA ) deal last month.
But the order was contingent on a separate engine deal over costs with CFM International, a joint venture by GE Aerospace (GE) and Safran Aerospace, the report said.
"If CFM comes to feasible economical terms then we are going to sign with Boeing ( BA )," Bolat reportedly told Reuters."If CFM continues its stance we'll change to Airbus. With Airbus, I have choices," he said, a reference to Airbus's two engine suppliers.
Turkish Airlines may also place orders for Boeing's ( BA ) 777X mini-jumbo jets, Bolat was quoted as saying. "Once we have the right time, we're going to order some 777X," he reportedly said.
Boeing ( BA ) did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
