Market Chatter: Boeing Looks to Stabilize 737 Production at 38 Units per Month
May 26, 2025 11:47 AM

11:25 AM EDT, 05/21/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Boeing ( BA ) is looking to stabilize production of its 737 MAX airplanes at 38 units per month for the next few months, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing Doug Ackerman, Boeing's ( BA ) commercial airplanes vice president of quality.

For May, the airplane manufacturer is on track to manufacture approximately 38 planes, the report said citing two people familiar with the matter.

After a 737 airplane experienced a panel blowout incident in January 2024, the US Federal Aviation Administration restricted production at 38 airplanes per month, the report said.

Boeing's ( BA ) monthly production of 737 had been hovering around "the teens and the thirties", the report said.

Ackerman said the company would look to add a fourth production line once the output gets steady at the current levels, according to the report.
